Director of Science and Technology

28 January 2008

In September this year, Professor Nigel Brown will be leaving BBSRC to take up a new appointment as Vice-Principal and Head of the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. Over the coming months we will be working with Professor Brown to ensure that effective steps are taken to minimise any impact of this move on BBSRC’s strategic science planning and operations. We are moving swiftly to help ensure that a successor will be appointed as quickly as possible.

Professor Brown has been on leave of absence from the University of Birmingham as Director of Science and Technology at BBSRC since 2004, and played a major role in developing and delivering our science vision, notably in the establishment of effective cross-Research Council programmes, in embedding systems biology and in support for longer-larger grants that enable researchers to work in the multidisciplinary teams that are needed to address major and complex questions in bioscience research.
