Does your research raise challenging issues or controversy?
This course aims to inspire and support you to carry out effective public engagement that reflects upon the social and ethical perspectives of your work.
By taking part, participants will develop:
- an understanding of what public engagement is and why it is important
- an understanding of the skills required to carry out effective public engagement that is well organised and properly evaluated
- a greater understanding of the broader context of their work and a deeper empathy with public values, views, concerns and aspirations
- an awareness of the social and ethical issues that might be raised in the context of their research and how to engage with the public in relation to those issues
