As of 31 December 2013 field work for an experiment using genetically modified (GM) wheat has been completed at the BBSRC strategically-funded institute Rothamsted Research.
The GM Inspectorate conducted regular site visits throughout the two-year experiment.
It concludes: "The GM Inspectorate is content that the release was consistent with the conditions of the consent and did not identify any risks to human health or the environment posed by the genetically modified organism".
Once the data from the field experiments are analysed, the research will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals which will be publically available and disseminated via relevant media.
