BBSRC is looking to appoint high-calibre, committed individuals from the academic and industrial sectors to fill a number of vacancies on its Strategy Advisory Panels (Exploiting New Ways of Working and Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy) and the Pool of Experts.

The Panels play leading roles in the development and implementation of the Council's strategies, policies and priorities.

The Pool of experts plays a key role in delivering BBSRC's mission through participation in the assessment of research grant proposals and the awarding of studentships and fellowships.

Exploiting New Ways of Working Strategy Advisory Panel

BBSRC is looking to appoint high calibre individuals with multidisciplinary expertise relevant to the enabling theme 'Exploiting New Ways of Working' Strategy Advisory Panel. The Panel works across the whole of BBSRC's remit, and so members are expected to be able to provide effective advice across a range of scientific areas, using evidence provided by small working groups where appropriate. BBSRC wishes to appoint experts within one or more of the following areas, but who are able to contribute more broadly to the development of strategies encouraging and exploiting new approaches to research, innovation and skills within the wider biosciences:

In particular, BBSRC would welcome applications from individuals with expertise in synthetic biology or biomolecular characterisation.

Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy Strategy Advisory Panel

BBSRC would welcome applications from individuals with expertise in natural products.

Pool of experts

BBSRC has identified a number of vacancies within the Pool of Experts which are outlined on the Committee/Pool membership page. BBSRC would particularly welcome expressions of interest from technology developers, practitioners and from those with expertise in the following areas:
