Changes have been made in the Joint Electronic Submissions (Je-S), the system used by the Research Councils to provide their communities with electronic research grant services.

The Facilities section of the proposal form has now become mandatory for all applicants to complete when applying to Schemes which include the option for requesting Facility usage. Any applicants who will need to access a facility to carry out their research will need to complete the section selecting all relevant options and providing the proposed usage. If no facilities are relevant to the proposal, there will be a requirement to tick a box to indicate this.

Providing an indication of facility usage requirements at this pre-award stage will enable the Research Councils with facilities to have a better understanding of the likely level of access in the future, helping to develop the Research Council's strategy for their facilities.

This new requirement has commenced for proposals created in JeS from 27 August 2013. Further advice on completing the section can be found within the RCUK Je-S system. Any questions can be raised with the Je-S helpdesk on 01793 444164 and
